My father (Alec Bristow) wrote a book on allotment gardening at the beginning of the second world war as part of the war effort.
At the beginning of June, Kate's partner John bought a new copy of the book in his local bookshop - none of the family knew that it had been republished.
We have since been in touch with the publisher (Beautiful Books) who said they had tried to find any relatives but hadn't been able to.
I have now got a copy of the new book as well as the old one. It is a good basic introduction to vegetable gardening telling you what tools to use, how to dig, what crops to grow etc.
This afternoon I saw two copies of it for sale in the bookshop in the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London!!
