Burston Strike School Rally 2010
Originally uploaded by zoer.
Went to the Burston Strike School Rally today. Good speakers, lovely weather and lots of people. I joined in the march behind the NUT banner as I am still a member, although retired.
Tony Benn spoke well though not for long.

"How to Run an Allotment"

Allotment book and me
Originally uploaded by zoer.
My father (Alec Bristow) wrote a book on allotment gardening at the beginning of the second world war as part of the war effort.
At the beginning of June, Kate's partner John bought a new copy of the book in his local bookshop - none of the family knew that it had been republished.
We have since been in touch with the publisher (Beautiful Books) who said they had tried to find any relatives but hadn't been able to.
I have now got a copy of the new book as well as the old one. It is a good basic introduction to vegetable gardening telling you what tools to use, how to dig, what crops to grow etc.
This afternoon I saw two copies of it for sale in the bookshop in the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London!!

Bardwell, Suffolk

Bardwell, Suffolk

Spinning at Bardwell Windmill for the first time this year - two more events to come. I hadn't realised that I was sitting in front of some lilac which was exactly the same colour as the flower on my headband until Enid pointed it out, so I asked her to take a photo.

Victoria Park, East London

Victoria Park, East London

Went to London for the New Year. We walked along the Regent's Canal to Victoria Park on Sunday and the pond had lots of thin ice on it - the gulls were slipping all over it and fighting over bits of bread.
